Upcomming events of interest in New York City

Here's a quick update about the major happenings in the city for this weekend and beyond. New York City never sleeps and there's always something exciting happening.

Saturday August 23 -

What: National Gotopless Protest Day
When: Tomorrow at Noon
Where: Cities Everywhere - In New York City - The Merchants Entrance at Central Park, near Columbus Circle
Why: Support a good cause by going topless and showing the authorities in charge that equality is just a matter of opinion. If men can go topless in public, why shouldn't women be given the right to do so too? This event is more than a display of boobage, it's a political statement.

What: Jimmy Duff's Birthday Party
When: All Night Saturday. Bar opens @ 7 PM
Where: Duff's Bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Why: It's Jimmy Duff's birthday! Come celebrate the man who has given Metal Heads a place to converge, drink, listen to great music, and be merry. One never knows who may show up to the bar. With rumors turning to truth, this might be one of the last big events at Duff's current location. Duff's will be moving this fall to a bigger and better location as promised by Jimmy Duff's.

What: WSU Wrestling
When: Saturday at 7:30 PM
Where: Knights of Columbus Hall - 94 Bridge Street, Belleville, NJ
Why: Are you a wrestling fan who is tired of the same old WWE and TNA crap on television? Then go support a local Indy Fed like WSU, an all woman's wrestling Federation that operates out of New Jersey. Tomorrow night's even will be held in cooporation with the NWS (National Wrestling Superstars). The Double Main event will feature former ECW and WWE star Dawn Marie taking on Becky Bayless, as well as the WSU Champion, Angel Orsini defending against Portia Perez. Tickets are only $15 for the night. That's considerably cheaper than what TNA would have to offer for their $100 New York card next month.

Other Events of note:

The U.S. OPEN starts on Monday August 28th. It'll be near impossible to get a ticket at this point. Check Craigslist snd Stub Hub for tickets. Don't expect to find scalpers at the event. They're cracking down heavily on them. This Sunday will feature a day of practice for all players at the Flushing Meadows Tennis Center. Enterance is free if you'd like to see the stars warm up for the main event. It's also a good chance to get an autograph. http://www.usopen.org/en_US/index.html

September 12-14, EXXXOTICA New York will be held at the Meadowlands Convention Center. http://www.exxxoticany.com/default.htm
